Questions for Reflections?
The Real You

Have you ever wondered why in spite of having the best education, correctly optimizing and utilizing opportunities, you struggle just like those who do not have your education or experience? Have you wondered why the finest CEO's and executive teams of some of the largest corporations that have had to close and many people are without work? For those of you holding pink slips, are you wondering when that silver lining will appear?

These circumstances are clearly common in today's life and cause us to ponder in a way that we never have before.  How did we arrive at this mess?  Who and what caused these calamities and how should one respond to these situations?  What should we do? It is true that time and chance happens to all of us.  I pondered deeply on what I should write on life issues such as the recent mortgage loan fiasco, to domestic violence and the impact it’s  having on  self esteem and relationships.

I came to the realization that while the administration and people in general may not see my value or contribution, I am not faceless and need to share my sentiments.  I think it is easy to overlook and dismiss one's contribution or impact on everyday life.  One thing is for sure - I am convinced that most life developments and social growth is as a result of our sacrifice, contributions and attributes.

Regardless of where I am at this time, my life is a measure of my choices, relationships and action.  Despite my circumstances I must focus on what I can change and accept those things that I cannot. I am sure there are many who share my sentiments.  I aspire to make a change in the lives of those who I come into contact with, regardless of my shortcomings. I aspire to add value to those that I come in contact with, and so do many of you.

Each one of us must do their own soul searching to determine the real you.  For now be the best that you can.  Know that people will be negative, disappoint and even discourage you.  The real you must be convinced that despite the circumstances you will make it.

Only you care about whether you will make it, so take charge. Take a different perspective and embrace change, as it is one of the sure happenings in life. As King Solomon eloquently put it, “Time and chance happens to them all”. So the next time you are feeling down or all hell has broken loose, just remember that there is a time and season for everything.  The real you will survive and prosper if you believe in yourself.
