‘Why Not Invest in Your Homeland?’Afripress National Directory the printing arm of African American Lifestyle Magazine has teamed us with a Kenyan based, Boston Media Group to coordinate and host this year's Diaspora Investment Conference which is slated for September 23 through September 26, 2010. Why is this conference different from previous conferences? While we must give credit for the success of the two previous International Conferences, the new initiative will take a keen effort to link Diaspora businesses and investment opportunities in Kenya and neighboring countries. Based on past successes, the organizing team of this years conference sees a real opportunity for growing business back in Africa by taking advantage of the vast experiences and resources of the Diaspora who are not only motivated but can leverage their unique experience and vast network of investor capital to create a lasting social and economic growth in their home country. The conference will bring together the many successful Kenyan businesses together with the Diaspora entrepreneurial that have experienced a renewed interest in advancing value and investing in their home country. I have no doubt the participants will mutually benefit from a new wave of business growth confidence that has been demonstrated by lending businesses in Kenya. We have put together a very strong team of business entrepreneurs, professionals and financiers that will coordinate these efforts both here in the US and also in Kenya. This is but the first of many international investment initiatives our company will take part this year and also look forward to doing a similar investment forum in Nairobi, Kenya next year. We hope to bring over many business organizations to an investment forum to take advantage of the large demand for goods and services in developing Kenyan and neighboring East African markets in Rwanda, Uganda and Tanzania. For more information visit the conference website at www.kdiconline.org. In addition to this new initiative, we will also add a section entitled “African Diaspora Investment Trend” We hope to encourage businesses in Africa to promote their products and services to both the vast Diaspora and African American Market here in the US. My own investigation has revealed a huge need by the Diaspora living in US desiring to invest back in Africa. African Diaspora and African Americans spent over 1.2 trillion dollars in purchasing power according to a study by Harvard School of Business compiled in 2009. Mzee Peter Wairegi Publisher and CEO |
